PETTY CREEK RANCH IS A FAITH BASED RECOVERY PROGRAM FOR TROUBLED TEENS.
Petty Creek Ranch is a faith-based behavioral modification and substance abuse treatment program for at-risk teenage boys, ages 12-18. Located in a remote cabin in Alberton Montana, Petty Creek Ranch is a Department of Health and Human Services inpatient chemical dependency treatment facility that is owned and operated by a Catholic family who is committed to helping the youth overcome their struggles in order to regain control of their lives. We offer the young men who enter our program a chance to reflect and rebuild themselves in a therapeutic environment that is free of all social and sexual distractions, negative peer pressure, and drug and alcohol use.
Petty Creek Ranch is a very unique substance abuse treatment program for struggling teens that offers “Clinically Managed High-Intensity” residential treatment in a family-type of environment. Recognized by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) as a substance abuse treatment center for adolescents, our team of highly-qualified clinical and direct care staff work one-on-one with each child to create an individualized system of care designed for the unique needs of your son. By using both evidence-based treatment interventions and the wilderness and forest systems of Montana to deliver both “Reality Therapy” and recreational opportunities for our clients, Petty Creek Ranch succeeds in connecting with each child on a very personal level that enables them to find a place and purpose in our positive peer culture and family setting.
Petty Creek Ranch believes that the key to creating lasting change lies in developing deep inter-personal relationships with our clients that posture them for success when reintegrating back into their communities at home. We find that our group format and emphasis on community involvement helps build prosocial skills and corrects the tendency to self-isolate that is commonly experienced in addiction. By introducing our boys to a culture that values personal growth and the overcoming of adversity, they begin the life-long journey of addiction recovery and are able to identify with a larger support network that is always there to encourage and challenge them to be better versions of themselves. For this reason, Petty Creek Ranch has a proprietary discharge planning process that includes establishing aftercare treatment options and allowing clients to attend meetings virtually after they leave our program. We believe that what is currently lacking in long-term residential treatment for adolescents is proper discharge planning and transition protocols, which could ultimately undermine months of progress.
While your son is receiving traditional addiction treatment at Petty Creek Ranch, he will also receive academic and vocational/technical training, intensive family therapy, and recovery coaching in addition to many other treatment interventions like equine-assisted therapy and action-based therapy. We also implement a 12-step model that was developed by the Hazelden Betty Ford Center that promotes mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. In addition, Petty Creek Ranch uses many outdoor recreational activities such as rafting, skiing, backpacking, and horseback riding to give our boys a once in a lifetime chance to experience an exciting yet wholesome Montana lifestyle while on the ranch.
Petty Creek Ranch is an “enhanced” chemical dependency facility that offers dual diagnosis treatment to address a variety of emotional and behavioral disorders: we also help correct oppositional/defiant behavior, anger issues, theft/dishonesty, depression, academic underachievement, poor social skills, attention-deficit disorder, sibling rivalry and bullying, divorce reaction, attachment issues, and sexual deviance/promiscuity among others. In addition, Petty Creek Ranch has a trauma-focused clinician on staff that facilitates Eye-Movement Desensitation Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) for clients that have experienced abuse or who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.
