If your child has fallen behind, we can help him graduate on time.
Petty Creek Ranch uses a Catholic home study curriculum from a nationally accredited high school called Our Lady of the Rosary School (OLRS). Enrollment into OLRS is ideal for our programming, as the home study program does not require students to complete coursework online, but uses traditional textbooks and accepts handwritten assignments in the mail. As part of Petty Creek Ranch’s value consists in “unplugging” these technologically savvy young men from the various devices they use on a regular basis in order to limit their everyday distractions, OLRS’s correspondence curriculum is a perfect match for our unique environment.
Another benefit to the Our Lady of the Rosary School curriculum is that students are able to complete coursework at a faster pace than they would in the traditional classroom setting. OLRS requires students to complete quarterly exams in order to receive credit for an entire subject, which gives the boys in our program an incentive to apply more effort into their education, as they begin to see the end in sight. In addition, we find that OLRS improves reading retention, the ability to cross-reference material, and independent study skills, which ultimately prepares the student for the type of learning they will experience in college.
Petty Creek Ranch will also accommodate other curricula on a case-by-case basis, typically in situations where a child is being admitted into our program during a school semester and can complete it while on the ranch. Our staff will work diligently to ensure that no student falls behind academically while in our care, as we offer complete educational services and organize course work in a manner that enables each student to progress towards high school completion without the social distractions and negative peer influences that are always present in today’s school systems. We find that our method of providing educational and tutoring services is also an effective way of helping those with learning disabilities, motivational challenges, and disruptive classroom behavior.
We also offer vocational services including vocational-technical training, driver’s education, SAT preparation and educational consultation. The latter includes both researching universities, colleges, or trade schools with your son as he nears graduation, as well as going to job fairs or recruiting centers for all the branches of the U.S. Armed Forces if desired. Our goal is to inspire your son to take control of his education and to become future-oriented and goal driven as he begins pursuing a career in a field of his interest. Please give us a call today to discuss specific academic needs that your child may have as well as to gain more information on other educational services that are available at Petty Creek Ranch.
